Challenge

A national university facing the same AI wave as everyone else — usage already happening informally, no clear governance, and real risk alongside real opportunity.

What I did

I've worked to move the institution from scattered, ungoverned AI use toward a coherent approach — connecting data governance, policy, and practical adoption so AI becomes a capability the institution can actually use, not just talk about.

Outcome

A more deliberate, institution-wide footing for AI — grounded in governance and data, not hype.

Building the systems higher ed runs on

Two decades · SIS → BI → Information Services

Challenge

Institutions depend on student information systems, reporting, and data infrastructure that have to actually work — every term, for every student, under real constraints.

What I did

Over two decades I led student information systems, then business intelligence and information services — and spent years on the vendor side helping other institutions do the same. The throughline: turning messy institutional reality into systems people can trust and use.

Outcome

Data and systems infrastructure institutions rely on daily — the unglamorous foundation everything else, including AI, now depends on.

Challenge

Most AI advice for higher ed is either vendor hype or abstract theory. Institutions need a practical map: where are we ready, where aren’t we, and what do we do Monday morning?

What I did

I founded eleved.ai to help institutions navigate AI readiness and strategy, and I'm developing a structured AI-readiness framework and field-guide series built for how higher ed actually works — plus AI-enhanced tools designed for the same audience.

Outcome

A growing body of frameworks, tools, and advisory work helping institutions get genuinely ready for AI.
